| "We used the Model S16TC along with 40 gage thermocouples from GEC Instruments to measure the small temperature rise in a large Calcite crystal. It has a property that the index of refraction is different in two directions. And the index of refraction changes with temperature. We used 4 thermocouples on the sample and the accuracy and resolution of the temperature measurements obtained with this instrument were excellent. The DDE server in the GEC Instruments software was utilized to get the data into our LabView program in real time while we were conducting our experiments.
